Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ) publishes original, high-quality scholarly research that contributes to knowledge across a broad range of disciplines. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.

Scope of the Journal

BIRJ welcomes submissions in, but not limited to, the following fields:

  • Education
  • Information Technology
  • Health Sciences
  • Business and Economics
  • Agriculture
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Theology and Religious Studies
  • Social Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Natural Sciences
  • Interdisciplinary Research

Manuscript Preparation

Authors should ensure that manuscripts:

  • are written in clear, concise English;
  • are submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format;
  • include a title, abstract, and keywords;
  • follow a consistent citation and referencing style (APA 7th edition is recommended unless otherwise specified);
  • include all tables and figures with appropriate captions;
  • have been carefully proofread before submission.

Ethical Requirements

Authors must ensure that:

  • the manuscript is original;
  • all sources are properly cited;
  • plagiarism has been avoided;
  • all listed authors have approved the submission;
  • conflicts of interest are disclosed;
  • ethical approval has been obtained where required.

Data Availability

Where applicable, authors should include a Data Availability Statement describing where supporting data can be accessed or explaining why data cannot be shared.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

If generative AI or other AI-assisted tools have been used in preparing the manuscript, authors must disclose this in the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.

ORCID

Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD during submission to improve the discoverability and accurate attribution of their research.

Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submissions sent by email will normally not be considered.

Before submitting your manuscript, please confirm that all of the following statements are true:

  • I confirm that this manuscript is original and has not been published previously, nor is it under consideration by another journal.
  • I confirm that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and agree to its submission to the Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ).
  • I confirm that the manuscript falls within the aims and scope of the journal.
  • I have prepared the manuscript according to the journal's Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript includes a title, abstract, keywords, and complete references.
  • All figures, tables, and supplementary files are properly labelled and cited in the manuscript.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Any required ethical approval has been obtained and is described in the manuscript where applicable.
  • Any conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • All sources of funding have been acknowledged where applicable.
  • If artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used during the preparation of this manuscript, their use has been disclosed in the manuscript.
  • Where appropriate, a Data Availability Statement has been included.
  • I understand that manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism and that submissions failing to meet the journal's ethical standards may be rejected.
  • I agree to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Copyright policies.
