Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ) publishes original, high-quality scholarly research that contributes to knowledge across a broad range of disciplines. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.

Scope of the Journal

BIRJ welcomes submissions in, but not limited to, the following fields:

  • Education
  • Information Technology
  • Health Sciences
  • Business and Economics
  • Agriculture
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Theology and Religious Studies
  • Social Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Natural Sciences
  • Interdisciplinary Research

Manuscript Preparation

Authors should ensure that manuscripts:

  • are written in clear, concise English;
  • are submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format;
  • include a title, abstract, and keywords;
  • follow a consistent citation and referencing style (APA 7th edition is recommended unless otherwise specified);
  • include all tables and figures with appropriate captions;
  • have been carefully proofread before submission.

Ethical Requirements

Authors must ensure that:

  • the manuscript is original;
  • all sources are properly cited;
  • plagiarism has been avoided;
  • all listed authors have approved the submission;
  • conflicts of interest are disclosed;
  • ethical approval has been obtained where required.

Data Availability

Where applicable, authors should include a Data Availability Statement describing where supporting data can be accessed or explaining why data cannot be shared.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

If generative AI or other AI-assisted tools have been used in preparing the manuscript, authors must disclose this in the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.

ORCID

Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD during submission to improve the discoverability and accurate attribution of their research.

Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submissions sent by email will normally not be considered.

Before submitting your manuscript, please confirm that all of the following statements are true:

  • I confirm that this manuscript is original and has not been published previously, nor is it under consideration by another journal.
  • I confirm that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and agree to its submission to the Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ).
  • I confirm that the manuscript falls within the aims and scope of the journal.
  • I have prepared the manuscript according to the journal's Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript includes a title, abstract, keywords, and complete references.
  • All figures, tables, and supplementary files are properly labelled and cited in the manuscript.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Any required ethical approval has been obtained and is described in the manuscript where applicable.
  • Any conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • All sources of funding have been acknowledged where applicable.
  • If artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used during the preparation of this manuscript, their use has been disclosed in the manuscript.
  • Where appropriate, a Data Availability Statement has been included.
  • I understand that manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism and that submissions failing to meet the journal's ethical standards may be rejected.
  • I agree to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Copyright policies.

Authors who publish with the **Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ)** agree to the following terms:

1. Authors retain the copyright of their work.

2. Authors grant the Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal the right of first publication while permitting the work to be shared, indexed, archived, and distributed as part of the scholarly record.

3. Articles published in BIRJ are made available under the **Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) License**, which permits anyone to:

   - **Share** — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and
   - **Adapt** — remix, transform, and build upon the material,

   provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and BIRJ as the source of publication, and that the resulting work is distributed under the same license.

   The material may **not be used for commercial purposes**.

4. Authors are encouraged to deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other trusted repositories, provided that appropriate acknowledgment is given to BIRJ as the original publisher.

5. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material included in their manuscripts before submission.

6. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, does not infringe the rights of others, and complies with the journal's Publication Ethics and Editorial Policies.

The Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal (BIRJ) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of its authors, reviewers, editors, readers, website visitors, and other users.   • Technical Information: IP addresses, browser types, operating systems, device information, and usage information that may be collected when users access or interact with the journal website.
  • Communication Data: Correspondence between users and the journal, including emails, inquiries, editorial communications, reviewer communications, and feedback.
  1. How We Use Your Information

BIRJ may use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To facilitate manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, and publication.
  • To communicate with authors, reviewers, editors, and other users regarding submissions, editorial decisions, peer-review activities, and journal-related matters.
  • To maintain accurate records of authorship, editorial activity, and published content.
  • To manage user accounts and access to journal services.
  • To provide and improve the functionality, security, and user experience of the journal website and publishing system.
  • To provide journal announcements, calls for papers, and other relevant communications where users have opted to receive such communications.

BIRJ does not sell, rent, or trade users' personal information.

Personal information may be shared or disclosed where necessary for legitimate journal operations or where required or permitted by applicable law. This may include:

  • Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff: Information may be shared with individuals involved in manuscript evaluation and publication, subject to appropriate confidentiality requirements.
  • Publishing and technical service providers: Information may be shared with service providers that support the journal's hosting, publishing, website, analytics, security, or related operations.
  • Scholarly communication and indexing services: Relevant bibliographic and author information may be transmitted to DOI registration, indexing, abstracting, metadata, and other scholarly communication services where necessary to disseminate and preserve published research.
  • Legal or regulatory authorities: Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law or where necessary to protect the rights, property, security, or safety of the journal, its users, or the public.

BIRJ takes reasonable steps to ensure that information shared with third parties is handled appropriately and used only for legitimate purposes.

BIRJ retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to support journal operations, maintain scholarly and publication records, comply with legal and institutional requirements, and preserve the integrity of the scholarly publishing record.

Certain information associated with published articles, authorship, peer review, editorial decisions, and publication history may be retained for an extended period as part of the journal's scholarly record.

Subject to applicable legal, institutional, and operational requirements, users may have the right to:

  • Access their personal information.
  • Request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of personal information where there is a valid basis for deletion.
  • Withdraw consent for specific uses of personal information where processing is based on consent.
  • Opt out of optional communications such as newsletters or announcements.

Reviewers, editors, and other individuals involved in the editorial process are expected to protect confidential information and must not disclose, copy, distribute, or use unpublished manuscript information for personal, professional, or financial advantage.
